EKCEP Awarded more than $40,000 from Nonprofit Assistance Fund

Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program (EKCEP) is one of several nonprofit organizations awarded funding from the Team Kentucky Nonprofit Assistance Fund in January.

EKCEP Director of Finance Tonya Collins accepts a ceremonial check from Gov. Andy Beshear during an event in Hazard on Jan. 24, 2023.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced the awards during an event in Hazard on Jan. 24, which also included funding announcements for projects such as waterline updates and sewer infrastructure in Perry County. He also announced a second location in the region that can be used to develop new high-ground homes for local residents and add to local rebuilding options following last year’s devastating floods.

EKCEP’s funding totaled $40,859 and will provide a boost to the agency’s efforts to help Eastern Kentucky recover from the flooding and continue work in developing a more robust and diverse workforce in the region.

“This funding award comes at a very critical time. Our region’s response to last year’s flooding is ongoing and the need for additional resources to continue recovery efforts remains paramount,” said EKCEP Director of Finance Tonya Collins. “EKCEP is very appreciative of this additional support as we work alongside our many partners to provide a workforce response to the floods of 2022 and an economy that is in transition.”
